We're thrilled to be presenting Brad Hall's first solo exibition in Halifax, Metal, Stone and Wood.
Though it is unusual to host a solo show for a sculptor, Brad's work has a presence and diversity of
ideas, materials and methods that make it always fascinating. As Brad best expresses it: "I feel as
if I have been training for this art for most of my life. I have found a material I can express
myself with. I feel truly blessed."

We hope that you can join us for the opening reception. Works in the show can also be viewed on our
website though the following link: http://www.secordgallery.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=40256

Sculptor and blacksmith Brad Hall is a graduate of the Sheridan School of Art in Brampton, Ontario.
In his forge and studio in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, Brad works with a variety of metals and traditional
blacksmithing techniques - forging, welding, banding and riveting. Occasionally, metals are combined with
stone and or wood to create the effect that he seeks. Whether purely sculptural or artfully functional, Brad's
work always reflects an innate understanding of the materials used and a natural affinity for them. During
his career he has worked with a variety of mediums, including photography, pottery, and weaving, and
woodworking in the restoration of heritage buildings. All of this experience informs and influences the
sculptural work that is his contemporary focus. Brad is a member of the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts
Council and has frequently exhibited in their juried shows. He has also repeatedly been invited to collaborate
with other artists both in Nova Scotia and elsewhere in Canada and abroad. The artist has functional, sculptural,
and architectural works in private collections in Canada, the USA, and Italy.
